Have you ever found yourself looking for inspiration but no one platform could really satisfy your search? While various platforms exist that cater to specific categories, few combine those and offer content that is diversified and unique.
Another problem with using traditional eCommerce platforms or other content providers that seek to inspire is that they’re often full of fake reviews. Unfortunately, there is only so much most e-commerce giants can do to address this issue as it’s fairly easy for someone to create a new e-mail address to submit yet another review. Another issue with some platforms is that content creators are not sufficiently rewarded for their work, which might deter them from continuing to showcase their work as they’re forced to make ends meet first.
Yet a third problem arises with centralized platforms as they can decide what is accepted and what not. This might be useful in the case of inappropriate content but can easily turn into more of a censorship issue.
Curate is addressing all these issues with their style discovery dApp – dApp is a smart-contract enabled platform running on top of a blockchain. They aim to be providing a trustless platform catering to users looking for inspiration in all four following categories: fashion, gaming, crypto and fitness/health. Unlike the bigger centralized platforms, the content on Curate will be uploaded and curated by the Curate community.
It’s an engaging platform making it fun for all users to find content, create and be inspired while providing useful feedback and being rewarded in ETH or XCUR (the native currency of the dApp) for engagement and contributions. Curate also attracts merchants and retail to list content, offering them an attractive platform to raise brand awareness and increase their online sales.
To ensure that all reviews on the platform are genuine all reviews will be screened by AI filtering out a derogatory language and hate speech prior to being published. In addition to that, every user is assigned a unique ID and has to verify their account before they can even write feedback. This ensures that only real people are able to review content on Curate. All data that is collected is kept in accordance with regulations and security laws.
As previously mentioned, the token fueling the platform is XCUR. It is not only used tor reward users for their engagement but can be used to purchase items on curate, to unlock special discounts, upgrade to a Pro account for more features, stake in-app and more as the app matures.
Unlike many other nascent crypto projects, the team behind Curate decided to not raise funds via an ICO but bootstrapped their venture. The Curate App is currently still under development but should be released very soon. With an increasing number of users growing tired of centralized platforms selling their data, it’ll be interesting to see how Curate can capture that audience.
